Harrogate

When your day starts with a train trip over aqueducts, under old bridges and past cottages that look like they belong in ‘The Holiday’, you know you’re heading in the right direction.

The tiny spa town of Harrogate is famous for its tea rooms, sprawling gardens and healing waters. Charles Dickens and Tsarina Alexandra of Russia visited its popular baths, and Agatha Christie reappeared here after briefly vanishing in 1926. Wouldn’t mind coming back and vanishing for a spa weekend myself…
